Our History

Karen Hohman, Director, opened Sunflower Montessori School in 1995. Karen is an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) - certified Montessori teacher and offers a recognized AMI Primary program for children ages 3-6+.

 

Karen respects children as self-directed individuals and fosters growth toward independence and social responsibility to create an atmosphere of calm, order, and joy -- all within a safe and stimulating environment that supports the developmental stages of each child.  She helps children progress at their own pace and gradually discovers their own capabilities by giving engaging presentations with beautiful, self-correcting Montessori materials.
